THE TENTH YEAR OF THE CZECH MASTERS IS IN PREPARATION, IT WILL NOT BE HELD AT THE ALBATROSS

A month after the end of the ninth year of the D+D REAL Czech Masters, it is more clear about its jubilee tenth continuation. This already has an exact date on the DP World Tour calendar, namely from 15 to 18 August 2024. And there is one more certainty – the venue will change when the tournament of the highest European series leaves the course at Albatross.

“We have had nine successful years and now we are getting ready for the tenth jubilee, with which we want to raise the whole event even more. We have news planned, both in terms of the accompanying program and the tournament itself. And we already have an idea about the main stars of the tenth year,” says Petr Dědek, owner of the promoter company Relmost, which organizes the tournament.

But now it is clear that next year’s tournament will not take place on the Albatross course. The resort itself first informed its members about this this week and then also the public on its website, where, among other things, it writes: “After considering all the circumstances related to the realization of this tournament, we are not considering holding it next year.”

What is Peter Dědek’s comment on this step? “It is misleading information. Albatross never organized the tournament, it was us as the promoter company Relmost. We only rent the course for the tournament and on the previous nine occasions it has been the Albatross. We will now take a different route.”

“Regarding our cooperation, our contract with the playground in Vysoké Újezd ended this year. At the same time, we did not enter into negotiations on its extension at all, and after this year’s experience we know that we did well. For the first time ever, the cooperation was not ideal and one of the consequences was that the pitch was in a very bad condition. At the same time, the entire resort is unsatisfactory for us today, either because of the insufficient driving range or the dwindling parking spaces for spectators,” explains Petr Dědek

And he adds that the information about what led to this year’s unsatisfactory condition of the course is also inaccurate: “The resort is always responsible for the preparation of the course, not the promoter or the Tour itself. It is therefore not true that the condition of the course, especially on the greens, was the fault of the Tour greenkeeper. The Tour only consults and recommends everything, but the resort always has the last word in the preparation of the course.”

Where the tenth D+D REAL Czech Masters will be held has not yet been decided. “We have been negotiating for a long time about the host course for 2024. When everything is clear, we will inform the golfing public. We would like to thank Albatross for the cooperation over the past ten years, during which we have prepared unforgettable experiences for Czech golf fans and players. But now the golf event of the year in the Czech Republic has to go in a different direction in order to continue to grow. Only we as the promoter company Relmost in cooperation with DP World Tour will decide what it will be.”
